EDUCATE YOURSELF IN ETHICAL PROPERTY INVESTMENT

Whether or not you are a savvy property investor, you can’t fail but notice that if we ignore the current affordable housing crisis, we are going to end up seeing a lot more people displaced and regardless of status (perceived or otherwise) – this crisis affects us all.

In a nutshell, family structures have changed and despite the perpetuated desire of previous generations to own the 3 – 4 bed family home, there is actually a statistically growing requirement for 1 and 2 bedroom properties. Sadly, this is being overlooked yet it is a significant factor in the creation and propagation of the affordable housing crisis and the idea of waiting for the Government to “fix it” (as in supply the affordable and sustainable homes that we sorely need for our communities) is evidently not working.

In previous posts, we’ve talked about unscrupulous developers greenwashing / social impact washing their true intentions by claiming that they are creating affordable or sustainable housing when really they are out to maximize their returns by telling partial truths and cutting corners with the finished product being far from genuinely affordable.

Think about it. If key workers such as our teachers, nurses, fire-fighters, paramedics and more are unable to find affordable accommodation in our communities – who will be able to provide these vital services? If shop assistants, restaurant and bar workers find it too expensive – who will fill their roles? And more importantly, what is that saying about our values as a society?

Here at High Impact Property Investments, this issue is at the core of all we do. Our vision is that through social enterprise and private investment we can end homelessness, particularly in vulnerable women and children.
